Reading is a key part of learning and through a range of texts, we hope children become immersed and enjoy reading for pleasure.
Here is a list of recommended reads for Year 1 to help inspire and excite children.

In maths we have been developing our adding and subtracting skills. We have been using lots of different resources and methods to help us to understand what adding and taking away means. We love developing our skills and knowledge in maths!

In D&T we have been looking at how houses are built. We were set the challenge by our teachers to work in teams design and make a house using foam bricks. We all loved the task and although it was challenging to work together we all managed to complete the build.
September 2025
We have been learning about how our homes have changed since the Victorian era. We had a great time looking at Victorian artefacts and predicting what they were used for.

We have all settled into year one fantastically and can't wait to start the learning!
