Reading is a key part of learning and through a range of texts, we hope children become immersed and enjoy reading for pleasure.
Here is a list of recommended reads for Year 3 to help inspire and excite children.

September has been a super busy month with so many exciting things happening including learning about light and shadows in science and Stone Age Day.
We created shadow drawings.
First we drew around a partner's shadow with chalk.
Next, we drew the shadows of toy animals.
We could also use the sun inside the classroom.
We explored a variety of different materials to investigate what happens when you try and shine a torch through them.
The clear plastic jar was transparent.
Some materials are translucent and create a partial shadow.
We found out that some are opaque and create distinct shadows like a book
Stone Age Day was amazing. We learnt about the different ages such as Neothilithic and Mesolithic and the different types of humans from Australopithecus to Neanderthals to modern man. We discovered how tools developed from simple stones for throwing and hitting to specifically sharpened blades and spears. Stone Age people were incredibly smart in how they solved problems such as cooking, making homes and clothes, and the development of art.
We learnt so much about the evolution of humans.
We imagined making fire by rubbing a stick between our hands.
We tried on an Bronze Age helmet
We explored a variety of artefacts.
Investigating how the large stones were moved to build Stonehenge.
