In English, we have been writing our own scenes of Macbeth. Afterwards, we used our playscripts to act out to year 2.

In PSHE, we have been learning how to work well in a group to build the tallest tower. As a class, we came up with some rules to help us resolve conflict: listen to others, share ideas and vote, combine ideas, compromise, respect everyone and most importantly have fun and enjoy!
On Monday 21st September, year 5 had a wonderful school trip to The Globe Theatre in London. As the sun shone, we took in all the amazing sights as we walked over the Millenium Bridge. First, we had a tour of The Globe and learnt about the history and the structure of the building. At first, we sat up in the tiers, before seeing what it was like to be a ‘penny stinkers’! Did you know that the lords would sit at the back of the theatre stage, looking at the back of the actors’ heads? Do you know why this is? It's because they wanted to be in the limelight!
Following our tour, we then had an inspiring drama workshop where we played some speaking and listening games and took on the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. We definitely have some budding actors and actresses within our cohort!
Year 5 have started their new jobs, helping our EYFS children at lunchtime. The children have been serving them drinks, helping them to carry their trays and cut up their food. What excellent role models they have been!
P.E Dance
In P.E this half-term, we have started our dance unit by being spies! First, we worked in pairs to compose a sequence which involved action and reaction then we came together to perform a routine as a whole class.

In science, we have started our topic on forces. We have been investigating which surfaces have the most and least friction. We also looked at how friction can be useful.
Reading is a key part of learning and through a range of texts, we hope children become immersed and enjoy reading for pleasure.
